Last weekend was Easter and we took two extra days off work to go travelling to Cesky Krumlov in Czech Republic and Vienna. We flew into Vienna on Wednesday night and stayed a night with Jutta and Sebastian. Thursday morning we were picked up and driven to Cesky Krumlov. The town is a UNESCO World Heritage site and it is beautiful. We stayed in a gorgeous small hotel which used to be a bakery in 18th century. We had a view of the castle from our room. We spent just over two nights there walking around the town and exploring the castle.
After getting the 3-hour transfer back to Jutta & Sebastian's we arrived to yet more cold weather. Vienna can be described as a wind tunnel. It felt like Christmas time, even the Easter market was confused selling gluwein. Jutta was a great tour guide. Now we have a lot of pressure on us to show Seabastian and Jutta around London in May. We went to a few Easter markets, explored the city centre, Schoenbrun and Belvedere Palace as well as the museum district. We went for dinner in a traditional Austrian restaurant and sampled some cafes. Vienna is famous for it's great cafes. We only had a few hours of really warm weather but most of the time it was freezing. Jutta and Sebastian spoilt us by making gluten free schnitzel and special Easter breakfasts. I just love a good German breakfast.
